Nix Dermal Cream Permethrin Cream 5% (w/w) 30g

Nix: Trusted Scabies Treatment

Nix Dermal Cream is recognized for its rapid and efficient results, making it one of the most effective treatments for scabies.

This cream is part of a group of medications called synthetic pyrethroids. Synthetic pyrethroids are a group of manufactured chemicals that are commonly used as insecticides. They are chemically similar to natural pyrethrins derived from chrysanthemum flowers, but they are designed to be more stable and longer lasting.

For a trusted solution to get rid of scabies in 24 hours or less, look no further than Nix Dermal Crème with Permethrin 5%. After only a single use, Nix Dermal Cream will work to eradicate scabies mites and their eggs.

This cream has a high rate of success when dealing with scabies infestations; however, in some cases, rashes may remain for longer than seven days, indicating that some mites survived or that reinfestation has occurred. In such cases, reapply Nix Dermal Crème no sooner than 7-10 days after the initial treatment.

What is Scabies?

Scabies is a skin condition caused by the infestation of a parasitic mite called Sarcoptes scabiei. These mites burrow into the skin and provoke a response in the immune system, which causes itchy skin and skin lesions on the affected area. To treat scabies, the mites must be killed using a chemical component called permethrin.

What is Permethrin and How Does it Work?

Permethrin 5% is categorized under synthetic pyrethroids, a group of insecticides. Its mechanism of action involves paralyzing the mites responsible for scabies, effectively eliminating them along with their eggs. Although this medication effectively eradicates scabies infestations, it may take 2 to 4 weeks for the skin itching to subside after treatment fully.

The active ingredient is permethrin 5%, a potent insecticide in the synthetic pyrethroid class of medication. Permethrin is highly toxic for insects yet has shown to be a low-risk toxin for humans, making permethrin an ideal treatment for scabies mites.

Permethrin works by attacking the nervous systems of insects and has been shown to effectively eradicate all or most mite populations when applied topically to affected areas. Coming into physical contact or ingesting permethrin will paralyze mites and cause an extreme muscle spasm, which ultimately kills them and their eggs.

Do Other Drugs Interact with this medication?

Tell your qualified health provider about all medications you are taking. This includes prescription medications, street drugs, over-the-counter (OTC) medications, and herbal medications.

Permethrin 5% may interact with corticosteroids, such as hydrocortisone and betamethasone. If you are currently taking any of these medications, it is advisable to consult with your doctor or pharmacist. Your doctor may recommend discontinuing one of these medications, depending on your situation.

Is Scabies Dangerous?

Nix Scabies Treatment

Scabies mites lead to intensely uncomfortable rashes and skin lesions such as papules, nodules, and cysts. While scabies rashes are not inherently life-threatening beyond persistent discomfort, repeated itching of scabies rashes can cause damage and leave skin vulnerable to bacterial infections, which can have serious implications if left untreated.

Are Scabies Contagious?

While scabies is not extremely contagious, they can spread from person to person, so it’s important to treat scabies infestations as soon as possible.

Mites are transmissible through close contact with skin and clothes. Immunocompromised individuals can form crusted rashes which carry an increased risk of spreading mites through skin-to-skin contact, bedding, and clothing.

In any case, prolonged physical contact with family members, coworkers, or peers increases the transmission risk. If you or someone in your household suffers from scabies, avoid contact with others wherever possible.

Will Scabies Go Away on Their Own?

Scabies mites will not go away on their own and should be dealt with promptly. Nix Dermal Crème is an easy, effective single-use skin treatment. In most cases, applying lotion to the skin just once will eradicate scabies infestations.

Additional cream may be necessary to cover the head, neck, scalp, and outer ears if they are affected and require treatment.

You may experience itching for a few weeks after treatment because eggs and fecal pellets may remain in your skin. If this does not pass or symptoms worsen, contact your healthcare provider.

How to Get Rid of Scabies Infestation

  1. Wash all clothes, bedding, and towels in hot water and dry them on high heat to kill mites or eggs.
  2. Vacuum carpets, furniture, and other surfaces to remove mites or eggs.
  3. Seal items that cannot be washed, such as stuffed animals or books, in a plastic bag for several days to suffocate any remaining mites.
  4. Disinfect surfaces with bleach and water to kill any remaining mites.
  5. Avoid close physical contact with others until the infection has been completely treated.
  6. Treat all individuals in close contact with the infected person, even if they are not exhibiting symptoms.
  7. Follow the prescribed scabies treatment regimen, which usually involves applying a topical medication such as permethrin cream or taking an oral medication such as ivermectin.

It is also advisable to seek guidance from a healthcare provider or pest control professional to ensure effective treatment and prevention of reinfestation.
