I've been committed to developing a business with integrity and compassion since the beginning. My pastor mother instilled in me a sense of social justice, while my banker father instilled in me a strong business sense. They motivated me to use business to effect social change. My early experiences taught me that there were global issues that needed to be addressed. I traveled from the Bahamas to Florida as a teenager and saw the world's plastic waste catastrophe in our oceans all around our boat. The sheer amount of trash in our oceans was heartbreaking to witness. Then, twenty-five years ago, when I was pregnant with my daughter, I became aware of toxins in our food and personal-care items.
My inclination was to safeguard her and future generations. I began to realize the magnitude of these concerns in our lives, as well as how many individuals shared my desire to make a difference. My own experience inspired me to create a company that would protect human health and the environment. My objective for Urban Spa is to inspire people to replace plastic with high-performing natural goods, and I am dedicated to making a difference.
Sustainability
Our products, materials, and packaging are all environmentally friendly. We analyze all of our collections with the goal of eliminating plastic from our packaging as much as possible while still offering flawless items that you love.
Compared to the average brand, our new haircare collection uses 92 percent less plastic in its packaging. Our bag-on-valve technology for aluminum cans is a cutting-edge dispensing device that relies solely on compressed air (and no chemical propellants). It can be recycled indefinitely. An interior bag ensures product purity, dispenses 99 percent of our product in each can, and prevents it from contamination by air and water. BOV is fully safe to use and has a lower environmental impact, so we can safely provide our biodegradable, vegan, natural formulas as liquid shampoos, conditioners, and treatments to customers.
