Pure Encapsulations L-Lysine provides an essential amino acid that helps maintain good health. Because the body cannot produce L-lysine, it must be obtained through food or supplementation.

Immune and Tissue Health
L-lysine is particularly known for helping reduce the recurrence of HSV infections, including cold sores. HSV requires arginine to replicate. Lysine acts as an arginine antagonist by competing with arginine for cellular transport and kidney reabsorption.
Lysine may also increase arginine excretion and stimulate arginase, an enzyme involved in breaking down arginine. Clinical studies suggest that lysine supplementation may reduce the frequency, severity, and healing time of recurrent HSV infections.

Recommended Dose
Adults: Take one capsule twice daily between meals or as directed by a healthcare practitioner.
To help reduce the recurrence of HSV infections, take two capsules three times daily between meals or as directed by a healthcare practitioner.
Consult a healthcare practitioner for use beyond six months.
