Antony Johnston (born August 25, 1972, in Birmingham, England) is an award-winning and New York Times bestselling British writer whose work spans comics, novels, video games, non-fiction, and screenwriting. Known for his versatility, Johnston has created stories across a wide range of genres, from gritty espionage thrillers to cozy mysteries and acclaimed horror video games.

In the world of comics and graphic novels, Johnston is best known for The Coldest City, a Cold War spy thriller that was adapted into the hit film Atomic Blonde starring Charlize Theron. He also created the long-running post-apocalyptic series Wasteland and has written for Marvel titles such as Daredevil and Wolverine. His adaptations of Anthony Horowitz’s Alex Rider novels into graphic form have introduced the popular young spy to a new audience.

Johnston has made a significant mark in video game writing, contributing to major titles such as Dead Space, Shadow of Mordor, Resident Evil Village, and ZombiU. Remarkably, he is the only writer to have worked on all three of the most famous horror franchises—Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Dead Space.

As a novelist, he is the author of the Brigitte Sharp spy thrillers, beginning with The Exphoria Code, currently in development for television. He also writes The Dog Sitter Detective cozy mystery series, which won the Barker Book Award. His interactive mystery book Can You Solve the Murder? offers a modern twist on the choose-your-own-adventure format.

In non-fiction, Johnston wrote The Organised Writer, a practical productivity guide for authors. Beyond books, he is active in podcasting, music (as Silencaeon), and independent filmmaking.

A former vice-chair of the UK’s Crime Writers’ Association, Johnston is also a member of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain and International Thriller Writers. His career reflects a deep passion for storytelling, regardless of the medium, and a rare ability to engage audiences worldwide.
