Alisan Espach

Alison Espach is a New York Times bestselling author and associate professor of English at Providence College in Rhode Island. Born on September 26, 1984, in Trumbull, Connecticut, she earned her BA from Providence College and an MFA in Creative Writing from Washington University in St. Louis.

Espach's debut novel, The Adults (2011), follows a teenage girl navigating the complexities of adult relationships in a wealthy Connecticut town. The book received critical acclaim, including a New York Times Editor’s Choice designation and a Barnes & Noble Discover pick.

Her second novel, Notes on Your Sudden Disappearance (2022), explores the impact of a sibling's death on a family. The novel was recognized as a Chicago Tribune and NPR "Best Book of 2022."

Espach's third novel, The Wedding People (2024), tells the story of Phoebe Stone, a woman seeking a fresh start at a Rhode Island hotel during a wedding weekend. The book became a New York Times bestseller, was a TODAY Show #ReadwithJenna Book Club pick, and won the 2024 Goodreads Choice Award for Fiction.

In addition to her novels, Espach has written for publications such as McSweeney’s, Vogue, and LitHub. She has also created a fictional audio series, In-Depth Market Research Interviews with Dead People, available on Audible.
