Dr. Tonya K. Lippert, Ph.D., LCSW, is a therapist, researcher, and author whose work bridges the worlds of clinical psychology, education, and children’s literature. With a background in both research and practice, Tonya brings a compassionate, evidence-based perspective to her writing—whether she’s supporting adults with ADHD or helping young readers navigate complex emotions through stories.
Tonya holds a Ph.D. in psychology and a Master of Social Work, and has served as a mental health therapist at Kaiser Permanente, where she specializes in running adult ADHD therapy groups. She’s also worked as a visiting professor at Reed College and has conducted research on topics such as trauma, memory, and anxiety. Her clinical work and academic background deeply inform her books, giving them a depth that resonates with both professionals and families.
In addition to her professional expertise, Tonya is a parent and a passionate advocate for neurodiversity. Her personal experience—having loved ones with ADHD—inspires her work, particularly her co-authored adult guide, Transforming ADHD, and its companion workbooks.
