This educational background laid the foundation for her diverse career in children’s publishing, where she has worked with major publishers such as DK, Simon & Schuster, and Hachette.
Lisa’s professional journey includes serving as a book buyer at BookTrust, a UK organization dedicated to promoting children’s literacy. In this role, she selected books for a wide range of children, including those with additional needs and those in foster care. This experience deepened her passion for ensuring all children can see themselves represented in the books they read.
Since 2018, Lisa has been working as a freelance editor and consultant, based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She collaborates with authors, publishers, translators, and charities worldwide, offering a range of services primarily focused on the early-years market, covering ages 0–12. Her expertise includes developmental editing, proofreading, and specialized inclusivity reads, which evaluate how well books represent marginalized identities with sensitivity and authenticity.
