Charity Curley Mathews is a cookbook author, food writer, and mother of four who is passionate about making family meals wholesome, fun, and approachable. She is the creator of Foodlets, a blog devoted to “simple recipes, fresh ingredients, kid tested x4,” inspired by her mission to help families cook and eat real food together. Her recipes are tested in her own kitchen, often with her children as helpers and taste-testers.
Before launching Foodlets, Charity built a career in editorial and digital media, working with well-known brands such as Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, HGTV, and iVillage. She helped launch Martha Stewart’s first blog and contributed to a range of lifestyle and food projects. Her professional background, combined with her personal experience as a mom, gives her work both credibility and warmth.
Charity has lived in several places, including Rome, Italy, where some of her children were born. Her time in Italy deeply influenced her views on food, especially the importance of fresh ingredients, simple preparations, and gathering around the table as a family. Now living on a small farm near Raleigh–Durham, North Carolina, she incorporates these values into her writing and recipes.
She is the author of several cookbooks designed for children and families, including Pizza School: A Kids’ Cookbook for Aspiring Pizza Makers, Cupcake Cookbook for Kids, Super Simple Baking for Kids, and Kid Chef Junior Bakes. These books encourage kids to get hands-on in the kitchen, teaching them essential cooking skills while keeping the process fun and creative.
In addition to her cookbooks and blog, Charity’s work has appeared in national outlets such as Food Network, The Kitchn, HuffPost, HGTV, and Today’s Parent. Through her writing, she continues to inspire families to embrace cooking as an opportunity for learning, connection, and joyful eating together.
