4Ocean Hawksbill Turtle Bracelet - Emerald Green

To commemorate World Ocean Day and raise awareness about the risks confronting these critically endangered reptiles, we released a limited-edition Hawksbill Sea Turtle. We'll remove one pound of garbage from the ocean, rivers, and coastlines for every Hawksbill Sea Turtle Bracelet sold this month, and donate $1 to our partner of the month, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii.

The emerald green cords are composed entirely of post-consumer recycled plastic and symbolize the ecological balance that hawksbill sea turtles bring to the ocean. The limited-edition turtle charm represents the donation we made to our partner of the month, which will go toward habitat cleanups for sea turtles.

Four Ocean Bracelets are hand assembled by an artisan in Bali, Indonesia

Buying a 4ocean bracelet does more than just help the environment. It also generates long-term, living-wage jobs.

A crew loads up our truck and motorbikes with our beads, cords, and charms as soon as they arrive at our main facility in Denpasar, Bali, to deliver these components to craftsmen in remote communities all over the island.

Women account for 80% of the workforce. Women in Bali tend to take up the role of primary caregivers for their families, limiting their professional prospects. More women are able to join the workforce while caring for their families since they may hand-assemble our bracelets in their homes and village centers.

Voted Most Likely to Ingest Plastic

Hawksbill sea turtles can be found in tropical waters all over the world, and they play an important role in the health of our coral reefs. Hawksbills eat sponges nearly entirely and are named for their narrow heads and sharp, bird-like beaks. One turtle can eat almost 1,000 pounds of sponges per year, according to estimates. Sponge populations can overgrow corals and suffocate our reefs if hawksbills aren't around to keep them in check.

Because of their vividly coloured and intricately patterned shells, hawksbills are possibly the most stunning sea turtles.
Hawksbills were driven to extinction until the worldwide tortoiseshell trade was finally banned, and they were used to produce “tortoiseshell” products like jewellery and ornaments. However, there is a thriving illegal black market.

The illicit wildlife trade, overfishing, climate change, habitat loss and degradation, pollution, and harvesting of their meat and eggs for human use have all combined to reduce their global population by more than 80% in the previous century. Hawksbill sea turtles are now classified as severely endangered.
