Herbal Select Whole Chia Seed
Chia is an ancient grain and was a traditional food of the Aztecs. The word chia is derived from the Mayan language, meaning "strength," and Aztec warriors relied on chia seed to increase stamina and boost energy. Chia (Salvia hispanica) is one of the best-acknowledged plant sources of healthy fatty acids, which account for almost two-thirds of Chia’s total fatty acid make-up.* Chia Seeds are also an excellent source of fiber and a good source of calcium.*
Serving suggestions
Enjoy Herbal Select whole chia seed by sprinkling it over salads, cereals, yogurt or your favourite entrées. Whole chia seed may be added to lemon water or fruit juice to make a traditional Mexican drink referred to as chia fresca (1.5 - 2 tsp chia per cup of liquid).
