Looking for a healthy treat to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with? Give this minty Shamrock Shake recipe a try!
With Saint Patrick’s Day right around the corner and the celebration of the Irish being one of extreme festivities, lots of alcohol, and four-leaf clovers, there might be times when you feel left out if you are trying to stick to your health goals.
Saint Patrick’s Day is, after all, a special holiday in which people celebrate the Irish culture with lots of food (and drinks).
Unfortunately, the food generally eaten is not always the healthiest.
But not to worry.
We don’t want you to miss out on all the fun and festivities, when there’s a perfectly good option available.
That’s why we’re sharing our all-time favourite healthy Shamrock Shake recipe (from Hello Glow) with you!
Before we share the recipe, let’s take a closer look at how things can go wrong on St. Patrick’s Day...
Why St. Patrick’s Day is a Mess When It Comes To Health
One particular aspect of St. Patrick’s Day involves drinking alcohol or any green beverages you can find.
These beverages may not be the healthiest and they are usually either filled with alcohols (as different bars offer different cocktails to celebrate the day) or they are filled with sugar, which is not much better.
Some fast food restaurants even celebrate the day with special offers and limited time shakes, juices, smoothies, and snacks.
While these restaurants do offer festive and brightly coloured treats to attract all ages, it’s important to keep in mind that they are filled with artificial colour and flavouring that people observing a healthy lifestyle would want to avoid.
Which brings up our next question...
Are There Healthier Alternatives?
The best alternative to such festive drinks and unhealthy celebratory habits is to find a healthier option you can make yourself.
This healthy option does not necessarily have to be a protein shake and it most definitely does not have to be something you would end up hating.
In fact, it can be a light, fun and delicious treat that might just end up becoming a tradition every Saint Patrick’s Day for the coming years.
You can even invite your friends over and have a potluck, where you provide the healthy drinks and they provide some easy green finger food that you all can enjoy together.
This is by far a better alternative than having to gorge down junk food and spoil your liver with excessive alcohol.
It is also a chance for you and your family and friends to gather for a special celebration that is not like the typical Christmas and New Year’s festivities.
The best part is that it comes in March, so there will not be any holidays that interfere with you celebrating to your fullest.
So, if you are looking to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day, but still want to wake up the next day without a splitting headache caused by an excess of sugar or alcohol, you might want to look at some healthier options.
That said, though the healthier options are endless, you should consider a shake if you are in need of something hearty.
This healthy Shamrock Shake recipe is sure to get you and your loved ones in the celebratory mood.
It is a great accompaniment to any meal and can also be enjoyed on it’s own as a healthy snack or dessert.
Its vibrant green color is pure and not artificially mixed into the drink.
So, you can have a fun time without having to be unhealthy!
Plus, who knows?
You might make a tradition out of this healthy drink.
