Ocimum tenuiflorum (syn. sanctum) is a medicinal plant with a long history of traditional use in India. The plant is commonly referred to as “Tulsi” in Hindi and “Holy Basil” in western countries. This plant potentially could be used for the treatment of bronchitis, bronchial asthma, malaria, diarrhea, dysentery, skin diseases, arthritis, painful eye diseases, chronic fever and insect bites.*
